Preparing meals for children may seem like a lot of work, but it can be one of the most enjoyable parts of babysitting. Ask older children to help you set the table, make the food and clean up. Getting kids involved adds to the fun and makes your job easier.
Some parents will leave instructions for what they would like for you to serve the children, such as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or hot dogs. Other parents may treat you to a pizza. Either way, you get the pleasure of a free meal while you earn money!
If the parents don't leave specific instructions for what they would like for you to fix, try preparing something simple that you know kids love, such as spaghetti or grilled cheese sandwiches. Try some these yummy recipes for munchies or snack!

Like Queen Esther, you'll win friends hands down when you deal the kids one of these crisp cookies.
What You Need:
2 cups sifted flour
1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup soft butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons milk
red food coloring
non-stick cooking spray
cookie sheet
rolling pin
spatula
cutting board
What To Do:
1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.
2. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar together. Beat in the egg, milk and vanilla extract. Blend well.
3. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, until well blended.
4. Place the dough in the refrigerator until it is firm enough to handle.
5. Set aside a third of the dough in another bowl. Keep it in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it for the hearts.
6. Sprinkle a little flour on a clean cutting board and put the dough on the board. Lightly dust the rolling pin with flour and flatten the dough. Use a playing card as your guide to cut out rectangles shapes.
7. Lift the cookie using a spatula, and place it on the sprayed cookie sheet.
8. Remove the extra dough from the refrigerator. Add several drops of red food coloring and mix well. Again, flatten the dough using the rolling pin. Cut out small hearts that will fit on the rectangles.
9. Lift the hearts and place one in the center of each rectangle cookie. Press down lightly.
10. Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool on a plate before serving.
